Rev. John Warner

John is married to Geetha and they have four adult children. John grew up on a dairy farm at Jervois, being taken to St Luke’s Anglican, Tailem Bend, when busy dairy farming parents could get there. For John this lasted till he was about 14. He loved his time at Murray Bridge High School, playing footy for Norwood and Jervois before studying medicine at Flinders Uni.

John spent a good ten years of living life without giving God a thought. It was in John’s first year of working as a doctor being sifted by the reality of death and questions around life’s purpose and meaning that a work colleague challenged John to explore the truth and significance of Jesus for himself as an adult and invited him to their church, Holy Trinity Adelaide. Four months later, John was convicted of being one of the many lost sinners for whom God sent his Son to seek and save by dying on his cross for the forgiveness of sins. In August 1992, John turned a received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour for the forgiveness of his sin and the sure promise of eternal life.

John has since studied four years of theology, led youth and young adult ministries, worked as an evangelist and planted Trinity Church Brighton in 2006. Since leaving Trinity Church Brighton in 2017, John has been working with Geneva Push Church Planting Network helping young men, couples and churches to start new churches in Australia. John is passionate about seeing new churches evangelised into existence to give people, young and old, the opportunity to explore the truth and significance of Jesus for themselves from God’s word, the Bible. Part of this role has involved several trips to the Northern Territory to visit and work with some of the NT Diocesan churches.

John (and Geetha) are humbled and thankful for the opportunity to serve our Lord Jesus Christ and his mission to see the message of the gospel extend to more and more people in regional, rural and remote parts of South Australia and the Northern Territory with Bush Church Aid.
