We live in a world where AI is here to stay, is rapidly becoming more ‘human-like’ and is being absorbed into businesses, entertainment, medicine and our everyday lives. It’s also being used in ministry to generate sermons, create targeted talks to children and youth, prepare Bible Studies and discussion questions, and formulate prayers appropriate to a particular season or purpose! How should Christians think about AI and use AI, and where should a line be drawn?
Mark Kulikovsky will be joining us at Deep Dive to help us think through AI! Mark worked in IT for 18 years (actually commencing prior to the birth of the Internet, online screens, the personal computer, and mobile phones). In 1994 Mark commenced study at BCSA, completing a Bachelor, Advanced Diploma and eventually a Masters of Theology. Since then Mark has carried out 26 years of teaching at BCSA – lecturing in Greek and Hebrew, and teaching New Testament Survey subjects and in depth exegesis units on NT books, Spiritual Formation, Hermeneutics, and Research Methods. Mark does not consider himself an expert in Artificial Intelligence but he has been involved in the Australian University of Theology’s development of AI policies and has supervised a Master’s level mini thesis about AI entitled “AI Augmented Leadership: Authentic or Artificial?” – a thesis which discussed how the use of AI supports or undermines a church leader’s practice of transformational leadership.
